We hit the first day of Winter – yay!
*insert sarcasm*
Who loves Winter? I know some of you out there would for sure. And not only that but we hit just over 6 months of blogs! 26 weeks to be exact.
In recent weeks I have learnt the excitement and feeling of truly living when you step out and step up. Whether it be trying something new like a hobby or speaking up. Whatever it looks like there’s a time to try new things and new ways.
Recently, I wore something that wasn’t really my style. But nevertheless, I wanted to try something new. And little did I know that the old knit jumper quite literally made a gentleman’s day. It reminded him of the old days, and sure enough in clothing the old is making a comeback.
Not only that but experimenting with colour choices. It’s through this we can find what we feel comfortable and great in.
But not only that but stepping out. It was so funny because when I was in the city as I saw the traffic lights go yellow, so my walk lights would go green. But I stepped out early – one could say in good faith. But funny enough, as the traffic lights switched from green to yellow, I made 1 step onto the road. Kinda like half committing to the walk, knowing full well I should wait til my light went green to cross. But I thought it was fine, because I saw all the cars slowing down. But while the next 5 seconds pass, I see in the left of my eye a person on a push bike, powering his way towards me.
He slams the breaks, and as I turn, I mouth “I’m sorry.” Because I could see he was gonna make the light before it went red. However, thankfully without crashing, he probs was wondering why I was a step off the walk path, blocking his way.
Even going home, it was only when my neighbours 2 scary dogs were right near me that I realised they were nearby. A close call. As they were barking, not so nicely.
Moral of the story, don’t be afraid to step out and keep walking. Preferably not blocking a determined man on his bike. But you might make someone’s day or even inspire someone to knit a jumper. You might not feel like you trying something new matters, but yes for you it can be uncomfortable but that’s how you grow.
When you chose to step out, you actually step up. To level up one might say. It’s only through new experiences, and trying new things you can find what you like and more about yourself.
But rather than changing to fit into the world, we should try level up in God’s eyes. Try to improve the way we carry ourselves and find ourselves in His Word. Because our identity in Christ, is far greater and true than in the changing world we live in [Ephesians 4:22-24].
God, you amaze me!

Ephesians 4:22-24 NIV
You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.
