By overcoming comfort and discipling yourself to wake up early is a WIN. Those who are early birds can relate, and I’m sure that at first it wouldn’t have felt like “yay, I get to wake up early.” Though overtime it felt good and became a rewarding morning routine, achieving your goals, and setting up your day up for success.

This week I remember slowly moving and getting ready to head to gym, for the second time because I cannot count the very first time I went. You see for the very first time, I went without a towel. Now you could imagine, the newcomer so obvious, because I now know that it’s basic gym etiquette to bring a towel. Little did I know at the time, so I didn’t get very far into the workout that day… that’s why I count this day as the second after my first full gym day prior. Haha when I did go next after the day without the towel, I did notice the gyms “no towel, no gym” rule poster.

But back to my morning. Bro I literally felt like I should just sleep in, as I got up from bed hearing my alarm go off, I felt like I didn’t get enough sleep. But funnier enough sometimes when you oversleep you feel more tired. But I decided to get ready anyway. On the way out I checked my phone and realised I was behind schedule, but and I had a thought “that I’m behind time already it isn’t worth going now.” But by the time I arrived I was only behind schedule 2 minutes. Which when you really think about it, it’s nothing. Sometimes we use little excuses to justify our reasons and make us feel like convinced out choice is valid.

That morning, I felt so good after!

Another time this week, I was walking to the train and I had a realisation. You see, where I am you must cross this busy road, near the train tracks to get to the station. There’s technically this pedestrian crossing, where you cross the train tracks to then cross the road, to then get to the station. But obviously when the train comes, you cannot cross the tracks to the other side. See while at first it looks like an obstacle, the obstacle can be used to our advantage.

So what I realised is that when the pedestrian crossing closes as the train is about come by, I can use this to my advantage. You see, while the original path is blocked and I am delayed, I can think outside the box and cross the busy road – since the cars must stop also for the train at the lights.

While when the train isn’t there, I can cross the road following the pedestrian crossing to the other side of the train tracks, which still requires me to cross over the road. But I can be smart and time when the train comes by, to use that to cross the road as the cars have to stop and wait for the train to cross.

I just listened to this new song Liar (Truth Is) by Allison Eide and it’s quite powerful and catchy. I love the lyrics. See even in this week I can see how my thoughts can be false. Like how “I’d be so late, there’s no point to go to the gym,” Satan works similar. All he needs to do is twist the truth and make us comfortable and tell us what we WANT to HEAR or convince us that’s what we need to hear [John 8:44]. See Satan can twist the reality. Kinda like the obstacles but also with Words and thoughts. Unless we get another perspective, God’s perspective, we fall into the trap to see it in one narrow way. We trap ourselves to fixate on the obstacle at hand we can struggle to find a way out. But God is our way out [Ephesians 3:20-21 & Romans 4:21]. Something I realise at work is that when we focus on the bug at hand and not gain a new perspective or take a moment to refresh ourselves, we grow into this lie that it’s impossible to solve – well 99% of our software bugs have a solution, in the unlikely case – 1% the bug is due to our tools limitation. But God is limitless! God is truth [John 14:6].
