Hey y’all!
This week’s post is more of a little update than anything. Feel free to enjoy the blog post.
Have you ever tried to write a word one day, but realised you forgot (or didn’t know how to spell it) so you use another word? It still conveys the same meaning, but your writing is more basic. Not using BIG sophisticated words.
Like me recently, I went to bake a banana loaf (aka cake) but realised I ran out of butter. So like anyone who cannot afford to go back to the shops or wait until you have butter to use, I google alternatives. And to my surprise mayonnaise was on the list. Mayo! Hahaha. And guess what? That is what I used – after googling if it would change the taste. While here I was gonna bake it without sugar, decided since we are using mayo, its probs best I just add some sugar in for good measure.
I know you’re waiting to hear how it turned out. So sure enough, it tasted moist and like a normal banana cake! You wouldn’t even be able to tell the difference or have known mayo was in it. Just like taking your chances.
Even from getting a second-hand coffee machine and making coffee today, I also realised how you should read the manual. To follow what the guides say. As I was grinding coffee for ages, that was until I read the manual. See because it took so long to try changing a few settings to get the right time. But once I checked the manual, I realised I was using the wrong basket. But once I read and applied, I could get the coffee extracting at a good time.
Just like risking things and living life on the edge…my worst nightmare came. Though not fully. See as a young child I wondered how you know when to fuel up your car – thinking the worst-case scenario where your stranded because your car stopped going due to running out of fuel. And somehow this week I let filling up late. To the point where I was driving, and the fuel gauge was almost empty. Til the fill up for fuel light came on. But thankfully we made it to the fuel station in time.
Also, since reflecting on Easter and realising how Jesus suffered for our sins, but He never retaliated, in fact He still loved and prayed for those who were nailing Him to the cross. I realise I need to love others more, and how well I love others shouldn’t be dependent on how I feel. But that ship sailed quickly. Even from something as simple as picking up a parcel from the post. I never felt someone at the Post make me want to leave. She didn’t even say bad things, just her body language made it clear to me she couldn’t care less. It was during this interaction I realised how my ability to love others like Christ is still based on how I feel and how the other person makes me feel.
For us, in life it can be hard to know for sure what something is, or someone’s intensions – or someone’s story. Just like in the cake, you couldn’t tell what it was exactly made out of. That is why we must try new things, check and act in love. To know Good from Evil [1 Thessalonians 5:21]. In all we do, listen to that song, or watch or read that thing, we must realise if this truly is good for me? And what can I learn and how can I apply it in my life – to be the salt and light of the world?
God, you amaze me!
E
