Good morning, everyone!
Another week has passed, and it was all about trusting the process. See I got a facial. Like I have before but this time the lady specifically suggested this serum to target my skin concerns. She said that this time it was going to make my skin flake. I said “sure”, not thinking much of it and knowing that if it was good for my skin long term, I’d do it. Hahaha she was right. It really did flake; well, I’d say peel on the 2nd day. I should have realised just how bad it looked. Because the funny thing is that at work, I can come in with smooth skin and by lunchtime when I look in the mirror, I am stunned how my skin have been peeling…not as much as a banana peel – but it’s a sight for sore eyes.
Trusting a process means that while it may look bad now, there’s a plan to make it better – and focus on the journey with a hope for the end result. Like I know based on this facial the end – long term result is good, though the short term immediate result looks bad.
Because straight after the facial, my skin goes sunburnt red, and it feels tight and sore. But over the downtime period of a week, it goes through the healing process of being tight, dry and flaky with rough texture to smooth new glowing skin.
The key is to wait patiently after the facial, for your skin to recover and see that the long-term benefits outweigh the short term.
Like in the Word. The time spent opening your Bible can seem small and not important. But that’s a win for you, and a slap in Satan’s face. As you draw closer to God while the short term is painful, a slower process than the healing after a facial, is the change you’ll see from reading the Word. This change is the renewing your mind [Romans 12:2]. Where rewards of your labour, though are less tangible than changes looking in the mirror after a facial, change is there.
The reward of understanding the Bible far outweighs all the rewards the world has to offer. Just as a facial won’t last forever because we will keep aging, His Word is never ending. Meaning that it is like God Himself, eternal. With our attention on God, He is faithful to guide us and to help us change, until our inward in growing in our faith and Spirit, shows on the outside.
As it mentions in the Word about those who focus on the Lord shall be radiant [Psalms 34:5]. Because in a world of sin and evil, just how even a small lamp in a house lights up the house, so does believers in the world. Holding fast to God and taking Him at His Word, is where you can have a positive change in your life that affects others in a positive light.
Truly, you can trust in God’s process [Philippians 1:6]. That the highs and lows are part of the journey, to the destination that He has been preparing for those who seek to know Him as their true Lord and Saviour.
God, you amaze me!

Psalms 34:5 NIV
Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.

Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
