God, You Amaze Me: Don’t Be an Egg.

Hey y’all!

How far would you go to find what you needed, if you weren’t guarantee you’d find it?

Would you go an extra mile?

This week to bake cookies, and not just any cookies – Brookies cookies – we needed eggs. But the shops did not have any.

I was thinking of plan be. Egg whites? But its missing the yolk which contains properties that is needed for the cookies.

So instead, I tried searching at another shop and then another one. Thankfully, this one had the eggs I needed.

We all know for baking, you need all the right ingredients. You cannot simply replace any ingredient with something else. Sometimes, that one ingredient is the key!

It reminds me of a parable, actually my sister’s favourite Bible story as a kid. It’s in Luke 15:8-9, which talks about a women searching for her lost coin. While I’m not here to explain the parable, though please feel free to read it, this story looks at the heart of the lady.

In our life also. How much effort do we put in, into growing in true relationship with the Father? Or in anything…?

Most times, we only put in effort when we see how it benefits us or we gain something.

Even in the world, you cannot build a relationship in one day. No, its time and time again. Seeing how one acts and behaves, to understand them on their best and worst days, and all the days in between. Communicating, and putting in the effort, to keep the relationship whether it be friendship or more. Because no one is perfect. It’s just like finding the eggs. You know that you want to make these cookies, and you NEED eggs. But if you realise the day that you need to make them but not have any, what will you do? You’d buy them, no doubt I’d hope to imagine. But what if the eggs weren’t at the first shop you visited? Just like for me. How far you’d search? Just like the parable of the women and her lost cost. This coin was of most value…

For instance, what if you were about to go on a date and needed to pick up flowers. How much effort would you make to find your dates favourite flowers? I mean I hope you wouldn’t just go for the second best thing. But try go the extra mile, and make a good impression. But I understand if you looked, literally everywhere. See, it requires more effort then when in life we simply use another word, when we forget how to spell a word.

With God also. How much effort do we make when it is the least bit convenient or comfortable? Or it is time consuming?

Truly, God doesn’t care either about ‘how much time’ you make – though He would like all the time in the world, but it’s the heart that He looks at. Even if it was to spend time with Him for a few minutes, but it’s in those minutes that He knows whether you had an eager or seeking heart. One that saw the value of that time and committed it.

Just like in uni. There could be 2 different people who have the same assignment and with the same amount of time to complete it. But one could take longer and put steady effort, and the other one procrastinated and put little time but more effort in those last few hours.

You will spend more time on things you value. What do you value? And is this of any value in comparison to having a relationship with our Heavenly Father, who is the Creator? The more you get to know Him, the more you will see, knowing Him cannot compare to what the world has to offer.

God, you amaze me!

Luke 15:8-9 NIV

Or suppose a woman has ten silver coins and loses one. Doesn’t she light a lamp, sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it? And when she finds it, she calls her friends and neighbours together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost coin.’

Knowing God is of most value
