Well, I didn’t see that one coming! The cyclone in Brisbane. Crazy the fact we were all preparing and I don’t think it ever really came the way we expected it to. But some places did get hit hard.
Just like the cyclone came suddenly – though we had people giving us warnings. So will the end be, as mentioned in the Bible. It mentions that the end of age will be like the days of Noah when it flooded. As Noah was given command by God to build an Ark because a flood would come. And no one believe him and when the flood did come only his family survived.
You see in the world we prioritise things that are both important and urgent, like a cyclone. If you realise what truly matters, heaven and hell, that our eternal life is BOTH IMPORTANT and URGENT just like a cyclone, if not more so. See our actions here determine our life later, when our physical life here ends… because it will. Sadly, but it will. That life – eternity – is SOOO IMPORTANT, but we don’t see the URGENCY. Even I need to catch and correct myself when I say, “yeah but that’s miles away.” Because the truth be told, we are not guaranteed tomorrow, like the rising of the sun. Though we all pray we do live to see another day. Even this week we can see that life can change in moments.
Have you ever thought about how you would act if you knew today was your last?
Even myself, I sometimes think this like I see it in the movies, but I have never live it out. Or ever tried to do it for one day… okay maybe one day! But that’s likely when it’s my birthday and you plan the whole day for fun!! But I mean in your daily life.
If you lived like today was your last, how would you say “hello” to the barista, or to your friend? Or how would you have hugged someone or say “I love you” to your family member, knowing it would be your last goodbye? What would you have done in your day differently? Would you have gone out despite how you felt and seized the day? Maybe that pimple made you feel like everyone’s watching, so you wouldn’t go out. But I just saw a reel and can confidently say “no one cares.” See the women in the reel styled her hair crazy and order at a busy café just to prove that no one cares how you look – they care more about themselves. So, what about that!
About living in the moment and making the most of each day. Man, even I myself can feel lazy self sometimes on a Monday. But, if it was truly your last day, wouldn’t you do everything to make it the best day yet?
Like our relationship with God. We don’t have TIME to put HIM on PAUSE. You see the moment you believed in God or came to have faith; that’s the moment you must put into action and live like you BELIEVE. Through a true relationship with your King, Father and Friend, we can live out a life surrendered to HIM. See, you wouldn’t ghost a friend to chase after other things, like career, would you? Well, you could and I know it happens. But in the end, you’ll find what matters most is not the fame, or the fortune in amongst all the striving and worrying – when you receive all those things, you will still most definitely have the same EMPTINESS INSDIE. But it’s being with those you love that matters. And even typing this I realise that, if we did live today like it was our last, would we even spend it with God? Or would we be on a spending frenzy and treat ourselves like it was our birthday? Because we wouldn’t need to worry about the bank accounts the next day.
When push comes to shove, like preparing for a cyclone, you realise what matters most. Even around Christmas we realise this – since life can be put on pause (aka work or study). Now when push doesn’t come to shove, we end up missing sight of what truly matters. And what truly matters? This goes back to a line I heard, “I work to live, not live to work.” Think about it, we are all playing a game we never wanted to play. It’s called the hardships of life. To be educated to get a job, to work to survive, to then only grow older, until we’re old and grey and pass away. In the Bible it mentions that we cannot take our worldly possessions with us! We will only enjoy it for a time. But if that’s ALL we DID when on Earth in our physical bodies, what will we experience when eternity comes? There’s no escaping and it’s not hard to work out the maths: there’s only two possibilities.
Ever experienced regret? Haha, I have many times. And I still haven’t really learnt, some small and some big. This regret is also mentioned in the Bible, but this is the worst regret because at that point you cannot change your actions [Luke 16:19-31].
But in this lifetime, God has given us a choice. And we will ALL face Him on the day of judgement when the books are opened [Revelation 20:12].
You know as think about eternity, the more you cannot comprehend. But it was never about comprehending it as it is knowing it to be true and realising it daily – having it in FOCUS. But you can understand it in a sense, that it makes sense. See once you realise how short time here is, you must have a hope and wonder about life after death. And it’s like – well at least it’s like this for me – you kinda gotta believe that there’s something else out there than just the world at present. The state of the world causes us to long for a world without suffering and pain [Ecclesiastes 3:11].
I love writing these blogs! For me wow, God you speak directly to my heart. I hope He spoke to you too.
Stay safe and I will catch you next week.

Luke 16:19-31 NIV
There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day. At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores and longing to eat what fell from the rich man’s table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores. The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried. In Hades, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. So he called to him, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.’ “But Abraham replied, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony. And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been set in place, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.’ “He answered, ‘Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my family, for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.’ “Abraham replied, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them.’ “‘No, father Abraham,’ he said, ‘but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.’ “He said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.’”
Revelation 20:12 NIV
And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and the books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books.
Ecclesiastes 3:11 NIV
He has made everything beautiful in its time. He had also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.
