God, You Amaze Me: Outer Sight, Outer Mind.

Good morning y’all!

Let’s just cut to the chase. I lost my umbrella. Not just any umbrella but my new one I got 72 hours before. Yep, so hopefully it can bless someone who needed it.

Outer sight outer mind be real. Never have I lost an umbrella or thought I could do it – because for the most part I feel like I have a good memory. And that’s also because I loved the Memory card game as a kid. Until I did what I realise is definitely not a smart move. I put the umbrella on the train where I would likely had forgotten about it…

I placed in carefully behind my bag, facing the back of the seat.

And it was only 2 minutes walking from the station that I realise where the umbrella was when I came up short while my hand searched for it in my bag.

The reason we make mistakes is because we’re not perfect. So it is until we learn first-hand from boo boos like this, that we can stop making the same mistake. Meaning needing to buy a new umbrella each time we lost it. Kinda like those movies, where the main character keeps re-living the same day, until they learn from the previous and change the direction.

Haha and I did go looking for an umbrella on work break, but somehow every where be sold out.

Also this week. I got on the train for the morning to the office and we haven’t even stopped at the next station when I hear people moving and sitting down, with their loud music playing through their speakers. See everything has a consequence. No at this point I could not hear my music as their pop songs rang through the air.

Now part of me thought, “this is it. Elina. You just have to put up with this.” Because as believers and someone who doesn’t like confrontation, was going to keep my emotions on the inside and let this one slide.

You may pick or make a choice, but we are allowed to always change our mind.

So a genius thought came to mind, “I can just change carriages at the next stop.” Situation dealt with. Next station I just walked off, “like I was getting off the train,” and headed for the carriage beside it. And as soon as I sat down, I instantly felt relief and that it was worth it. From this carriage you couldn’t hear their music and it was so quiet and peaceful. That the inconvenience of getting up, was worth it.

For us also, we make mistakes silly ones and big ones we regret. But in life it isn’t about what you did (but we should be careful, because you cannot do anything you want), but how you respond afterwards.

Like in our relationship with God. He knows were not perfect. But He is!

No, just in daily life, we don’t always live up to our own plans. Whether it be pursuing God in His word, praying, worshiping in our own time etc. we don’t need to be hard one ourselves. But reflect on the actions we took and learn to improve. To not dwell on the past mistakes [Philippians 3:13-14] as God when He forgave our sins, remembers them no more.

Imagine if you were the tortoise in the rabbit and tortoise race – IYKYK. Would you have given up, when you saw the rabbit bolt out of sight? This story paints a clear analogy. If we give up before we try our best to make it to the finish line, (1) we wouldn’t know where we’d end up, and (2) we already admit defeat. But though we are weak, God uses us to help us get through each week. And all He wants is for you and me to say “I’m ready.” And be in the position to run, and He can help us overcome the obstacles.

Have a wonderful week! See you next week.

God, you amaze me!

Philippians 3:13-14

Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

God is bigger than your mistakes
